AR Loopmachine - augmented Reality, dance, archive and future
Since 2019, Nico and the Navigators and Yui Kawaguchi have been pushing the
boundaries of reality and imagination, exploring the limits and possibilities of
expanded perception with the AR_Loopmachine. The installation creates
intermediate worlds - fragile landscapes in which reality seems to be renegotiated
and dance, movement and digital projections enter into a timeless symbiosis. But
soon, on 01.01.2025, this journey comes to an abrupt end: the security servers in the
USA are switched off and the hardware (Magicleap 1 glasses) falls silent. What
remains are traces that carry the work into the future, a digital afterglow that is
present but no longer visible.
In a two-week installation, we bid farewell and invite reflection: How can artistic works
and digital worlds endure independently of economic interests and technological
change? How do we create digital archives that enable us to look to a future beyond
ephemeral hardware? The space between man and machine becomes a mirror of
our own transience.
